CHAIRMAN'S COLUMN - JULY 2010: You will be pleased to see we have a new Social Secretary who introduces herself below in the Newsletter. I am sure as well as enjoying the rest of the events arranged by David Baynes you will be keen to sign up for the Autumn programme Vikki has put together.

All those who have not renewed their membership for this year please contact Geoff Smith to do this with all speed, so that you can participate in the social programme. Bookings need to be made as set out on the form but as Vikki, like me, works full time, other committee members will be handling arrangements at the events for the daytime ones.

Colas have finally completed work in Grand Parade and moved up to the Cathedral, which we had hoped would happen rather sooner (in particular those who had equipment installed outside their front windows for 5 months!). We can only hope that it will not impinge on too many photographs and none of their work will be undone in the course of the gas main replacement which as I write is working its way along Pembroke Road.

Hilary Tyler, Chairman

HELLO - GOODBYE: I would like to introduce myself to you, my name is Vikki Mathews, and I have stepped into the shoes of David Baynes as the new Social Secretary for FOOPA. I would like to take this opportunity to thank David for all the hard work he has put into organising the social events in the past years, and wish him well with his new venture.

I hope I will continue to offer you exciting things to go and visit that are of interest. I have produced this bumper summer Newsletter with full details of the forthcoming trips, events and talks. If you have any other ideas or places you would like to visit, it would be great to hear from you and I will endeavour to investigate the feasibility. I do hope you will support me and FOOPA as you have done in the past, as well as have a really good time... Thank you.

Vikki Mathews

A Dispersal area has been approved for the area around the Camber and the Point down to the Square Tower. A Dispersal notice will be produced and displayed in and around the area in due course. The Hampshire Constabulary Police initiative for the summer is to tacke Anti-Social behaviour.

All residence of Gunwarf are reminded to remove all valuables from their vehicles. There has been a recent spate of thefts from vehicles in car parks in this area.
