07/01157/CCS Victoria Pier, Broad Street
Installation of 2.4m high palisade fencing and gates to pier entrance
(The Access Statement states:” Victoria Pier is unsafe structurally. The purpose of this work is to stop access to the pier by the general public. Access to the pier can still be obtained by authorised personnel”).
Update 09/08/07: This application has now been withdrawn. We await further intentions!

Old WightLink Office Building, Broad Street. (Update 22/06/07).
Above is an artists impression of the proposal by Portchester Homes for the development of the existing building into 17 residential flats. This is a change from the original proposal by Wightlink for 27 flats.

Update 12/07/07. The picture on the right is the latest proposal by Portchester Homes. The only change appears to be the alteration in the roofing material.

07/00761/FUL  Gunwharf Road Car Park (update 15/08/07)
Retention of 6 CCTV cameras located on four lamp-posts in fixed position.
This application had been previously deferred because a local resident from Gunwharf Gate objecting to the siting of one of the cameras affecting his privacy.
At the meeting the committee listened to deputations against the proposal from the
resident and for the proposal from a Wight Link representative but decided unanimously to reject the application. Wight Link were to be invited to consider the re-positioning of the one camera under dispute.
Decision: REFUSAL 15/08/07

 

 

07/00747/FUL Land adjoining Clarence Pier, Clarence Espanade
Construction of 54m high free standing 'Ferris' wheel ride, ticket office and associated tented enclosure and highway alterations.
Upate 04/07/07: Decision deferred to enable further further invesigation of the Transport assessment


07/00686/FUL Land Adjacent Car Ferry Terminal, Gunwharf Road
Construction of part single/part two storey building, including roof balcony and canopied summer terrace to form restaurant (Class A3) and cookery school
Update 04/07/07: Decision deferred to enable the Development Control Committee to further investigate the implications of the proposal.
