FOOPA Spring News Letter 2008 - Chairman's Column
The FOOPA Annual General Meeting on Thursday 6th March. 7.30pm is at the Royal Naval Club & Royal Albert Yacht Club. I hope you like the look of our 2008 social programme -

If you have recently joined FOOPA or just never booked for anything in the past, make it a New Year's resolution to try out at least one of the events! We have a strong programme of speakers and topics and the trip to Liltlehampton will be a chance to see why their waterfront re-generation, with developments not unlike those under way on Spice Island, met with such approval from the locals. We'll also be enjoying this lesser known Sussex resort's seaside attractions - which do not, remarkably and perhaps thankfully, Include any kind of shopping complex!
What practical, environmental, visual, heritage or recreational improvements do you think Old Portsmouth could benefit from? Your Committee is looking to fund one or more substantial projects during 2008 - maybe in partnership with other organisations if considerable sums are involved. Write your suggestions on your membership renewal form- a chance to influence what your £3 is spent on. We can discuss them at the AGM on March 6th - be there!
Here's another New Year's resolution - support our local businesses at every opportunity. They are working hard in a tough trading environment, so remember them when you are thinking of taking visitors out for a meal/buying groceries/ having your hair styled/selling your house/enjoying tea and cakes after a waterside walk/choosing a special gift for someone /visiting a gallery or museum and book shop.
